In collaboration with the MBJ Group, Karen Russell is supporting the talent management company with various account management activities.
With over 30 years of leadership experience, Russell has vast knowledge in event and sales management, marketing, business development and communications. She will assist MBJ Group and provide support with operations, administrative areas, marketing, data management and resume development for its clients.
Most recently, Russell served as the events manager for the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. In her role, she formed a new department handling the conception, coordination and execution of revenue-generating events for the media group.
Prior to that, she was hired by the private foundation behind Sarasota Springfest as its event director, managing the charity event benefiting local children’s organizations, with two signature runs and a post-race block party with thousands of guests.
She’s also served in a number of positions, including marketing manager and vice president of sales support, for several national financial institutions. She holds a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Delaware. She attended the MBA program at the University of Tennessee
Russell has served on the board for the Gulf Coast Heritage Association for seven years, along with supporting several other fundraising committees for nonprofit organizations in the Sarasota and Bradenton area. Russell was a director for four years on the Palmer Ranch Master Property Owners Association Board and has served as the secretary/treasurer of the Pine Ranch Owners Association Board for eight years.
